Due to its outstanding climate and
favourable geographic position Croatia boasts the
centuries long tradition of winemaking and winegrowing.
The Croatian winegrowing area is divided into two
regions, utterly different with regard to the type
of the soil and microclimate: the continental and
coastland region. The continental region, which
encompasses vineyards from the Plešivica Mountain
to the Danube, is famous for its smooth white wines,
and the coastland region, which reaches from western
Istria to Dubrovnik, produces both white and red,
typically Mediterranean wines.
